The DC .NET Users Group is dedicated to providing a forum for area technologists to discuss and present enterprise solutions utilizing .NET technologies as well as creating a community to promote the success and communication of its members.

HTML5 capabilities in recent browsers offer improvements in interactivity, performance, search engine optimization and maintainability.

This session describes the state of HTML5 today and covers strategies for taking advantage of HTML5. Learn how to use HTML5 features on your site today, including ways to help address cross-browser, cross-version compatibility issues.


Speakers:

Steve Albers is a Principal Software Architect & Developer for Time Warner Cable and has worked in software development for 20 years, focusing on web technologies, systems integration and application performance.

Steve has a BA in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech, an MS in Information Systems from George Mason University, and was an NVCC Continuing Education instructor. Steve has worked with .NET since 2002 and is Microsoft MCSD certified. 

G. Andrew Duthie, aka devhammer, is the Developer Evangelist for Microsoft’s Mid-Atlantic States district, where he provides support and education for developers working with the .net development platform. In addition to his work with Microsoft, Andrew is the author of several books on ASP.NET and web development, and has spoken at numerous industry conferences from VSLive! and ASP.NET Connections, to Microsoft’s Professional Developer Conference (PDC) and Tech-Ed. Andrew has been participating in the user group community since way back in 1997, when one of his co-workers dragged him out to the Internet Developers User Group in Tyson's Corner, VA, and he's been hooked ever since. Andrew is also the creator and developer of Community Megaphone, a site designed for promoting and finding developer community events. Andrew can be reached through his blog at http://devhammer.net/.
